In 2010, after the passing of the visionary leader Late Alhaji Sheikh (Dr.) Abd. Hameed Aweda Olohungbemi (R.T.A), a.k.a. Ayeogbaro, Faddelet Sheikh Alhaji (Dr.) Abd. Waheed Badrudeen, a.k.a. Temitope, ascended as the Khalifah and Chief Executive & Chief Missionary of Shams-Ud-Deen Al-Islamiy (SUDAI) worldwide.
His leadership marked a new era for SUDAI, one where the foundational principles set by the late Sheikh Aweda would continue to evolve and expand, reaching new heights both spiritually and organizationally.
A New Chapter for SUDAI
Khalifah Abd. Waheed’s journey to leadership was a significant transition for SUDAI. His ability to uphold the values and vision of Sheikh Abd. Hameed (R.T.A) while driving the organization forward was central to his leadership. Under his stewardship, SUDAI expanded its reach and influence beyond Nigeria, touching lives globally while staying true to the principles of moral, spiritual, and educational reformation.
While the loss of Sheikh Abd. Hameed (R.T.A) was profound, Khalifah Abd. Waheed approached his new responsibilities with unwavering faith and a sense of duty. He sought to ensure that the foundation of SUDAI remained intact, and at the same time, pushed the organization to adapt to the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
Leadership and Vision
Khalifah Abd. Waheed’s leadership style has been characterized by continuity and empowerment. His approach reflects the lessons of his predecessor, focusing on both spiritual and intellectual development. He recognized that SUDAI’s success depended on more than just maintaining its existing programs — it required innovation and a clear vision for the future.
A key focus of his leadership has been youth empowerment. Khalifah Abd. Waheed emphasized the importance of nurturing young leaders who are both deeply grounded in Islamic teachings and equipped with the skills to navigate modern challenges. The SUDAI Youth Wing continued to thrive under his guidance, providing youth with opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, education, and leadership.
Global Expansion
Under Khalifah Abd. Waheed’s leadership, SUDAI experienced significant global expansion. While SUDAI initially grew within Nigeria, Khalifah Abd. Waheed envisioned a movement that would touch hearts across borders. With his strategic direction, SUDAI opened new divisions in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, bringing the organization’s message of faith, unity, and empowerment to communities around the world.
Each international expansion marked a new milestone for SUDAI, as Khalifah Abd. Waheed worked tirelessly to establish and strengthen SUDAI’s presence globally. His efforts in building cross-cultural bridges and promoting interfaith dialogue ensured that SUDAI’s values resonated with people from all walks of life.
The Legacy of Sheikh Abd. Hameed (R.T.A)
Although Khalifah Abd. Waheed introduced innovative changes, he remained deeply committed to preserving the legacy of Sheikh Abd. Hameed (R.T.A). Every decision and every new initiative was driven by the vision set by the founder, ensuring that SUDAI stayed on course. Khalifah Abd.
